Day 1: Birding in Mabamba swamp and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. After breakfast, you will be picked to start your birding expedition in the Mabamba swamp. The swamp is located in Kasanje Sub County in Wakiso district about 50 kilometres southwest of Kampala. The site is the most accessible for spotting the legendary shoebill stork. Birding at Mabamba Swamp will allow you to get acquainted with one of Uganda’s most virgin swamps. You will canoe through the papyrus swamp and proceed to the unscathed attractiveness of the wetland, in search of the shoebill and other papyrus swamp dwellers, like a saddle-billed stork, malachite kingfisher, African jacana, and other swamp species. After proceeding on the journey to the Equator and having lunch then head to Lake Mburo National Park where you will arrive in the evening. Day 2: Birding and boat cruise on Lake Mburo. After a hearty breakfast, start the birding /game drive in Lake Mburo national park. This park is the smallest savannah national park in Uganda and protects about 330 bird species and a variety of mammal species that includes antelopes, zebras, warthogs and baboons,, and many others. Look out for the famous bird species, which include papyrus yellow and white-winged warbler, African fin foot, saddle billed stork and grey crowned crane. After the activity head back to the lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon, go for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo. This activity will give you a chance to spot wildlife that will be feeding and nesting on the shores of the lake. At the end of the boat cruise, head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 4: Game drive and boat cruise on Kazinga channel. Today will begin early and go for a morning game drive in order to view the nocturnal and the early risers in the park. You’re assured to spot elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, antelopes, lions, leopards and many other wildlife. Breakfast will be had in the wild In the afternoon, go for a boat cruise along the legendary Kazinga channel where you will see large concentrations of wildlife along its shorelines; these include hippos, elephants, buffaloes and this place is also a magnet for birds, therefore chances of spotting a number of birds on the boat cruise are high. Day 5: Birding and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Wake up and have breakfast and then go bird watching along Kasenyi plains in search of popular birds that include; white-winged, African reed, greater and lesser swamp warbler, black-chested and brown snake eagle and many others. Queen Elizabeth national park is a bird haven and one of the best birding destinations in Uganda it also hosts some bird species which cannot be found elsewhere in Uganda. Head back to the lodge for lunch and in the late afternoon, transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park where you will arrive in the late evening. Day 6: Gorilla trekking n Bwindi impenetrable National park. After having an early breakfast, you will prepare to set off for the great adventure of gorilla trekking in the misty hills of Bwindi. You will head to the park headquarters for a vital briefing regarding these gorillas and the trek will begin while the guide is a head of you and from a hike through the park, as you search for the critically endangered mountain gorillas. While trekking, travelers are only allowed to spend one hour in the presence of these peaceful giants. And at the end of the trek, head back to your lodge for refreshment and lunch. Day 7: Birding and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. After having breakfast, head to birding in Bwindi’s impenetrable forest where you will encounter a number of bird species and also primates at the end.
